Condenser airflow, first and always
Fine grit and pet hair mat the condenser and the lower grille. In a 110-degree kitchen a matted coil cannot reject heat, so the compressor runs continuously and still loses ground. This is the single most common Phoenix fault and it is the cheapest one to fix.

On a single-system model the fresh food side is cooled by air pushed over from the freezer. A dry fan bearing or an iced-over evaporator gives you a cold freezer and a warm refrigerator — the fault people most often mistake for lost refrigerant.
